I'm Vivianne, an artist with a passion for connecting creatives with the greater community.

Teaching art to my adult students for over 20 years has led me to see how creativity empowers the individual.

I have a deep belief that when this is combined with a sense of connection and community,

health and happiness flourishes.

In my own art work I love combining mediums to create contemporary work,

rich in layers and meaning with a feminine undertone.

A full time artist and tutor for many years, I am passionate about exploration and combining various styles and media to create contemporary work layered in colour and material, often with a feminine undertone.

I help people reconnect with, and unleash, their inner artist by providing a supportive space, the skills to create and gentle personalised guidance.

I empower students to make their own unique art with confidence and passion.

I had the wonderful opportunity to lead a Creative Community workshop with this fabulous group of women! @port_macquarie_women_connect is a women’s only group led by women. They offer a safe place to share, connect, laugh, support and create friendships.

It was definitely a bittersweet day with the @wauchopeartgallery closing its doors but luckily everyone who came made the day truly special. It was the epitome of what I had hoped from the project with artists and community mingling together, there was a lot of creativity and heart in that room! A big thanks to all who took part.

While his personality may be troublesome, I still love this quote by Picasso.
Children’s art captures such freedom, especially when the creators are young enough not to worry about what anyone else thinks… they don’t edit their work to please others.
I was talking to a private tuition student today about getting over creative blocks. There is so much pressure on artists to create a “saleable” outcome, it can be easy to lose the sense of joy that got us creating in the first place.
It’s like we have to give ourselves permission to have fun and play.
This is your opportunity to mix it up! Grab some papers from your recycle bin for some collage, scribble wildly with textas on a big piece of paper, or get messy with colourful chalk pastels - get into it, PURELY for the joy of the process. If it helps, you can always tell yourself you’ll throw the piece out at the end of it.

I’ve found creative play to be the best way to move forward when you’re feeling stuck.
You’ve got nothing to lose except a bit of time and…let’s face it, it sure beats time disappearing into the Instagram scrolling vortex!

You were so good to me, I felt so comfortable with you and I know how much you loved it when I rubbed paint all over you…
Since then, we had countless late nights in the studio making art together but now it’s like you’re just slacking off... like when was the last time you even washed before we got together?
You used to hold my butt like you meant it, now it feels like a cold wind has come between us and things are just falling apart at the seams.

Inspired by my local Flynns Beach at twilight, I love the dreamy nature of this work. It’s hard to convey via a photo but there are so many beautiful transparent layers in this piece, and when the light hits it, it just glows! This and several other pieces are gracing the walls of the fabulous Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery alongside works by other local creatives in “The Nature Collective” showing until 30 October 2023.

Flashback to the Emerge mentorship program and exhibition. I still pinch myself at the opportunity to help these creatives on their journey. Beautiful connections were formed between the group and the community. Within the group everyone has been amazing: giving support, encouragement and sharing ideas, tips and techniques. I’m so excited to be catching up with them again to plan our next creative adventures. Watch this space! Catch those kitties while you can! 🐈 Catsibition ends Friday 22 September. Loved being part of this show @homeatroto organised by the amazing @llamaisthename and @melanie_paintandflowers. This exhibition had the most beautiful community feel to it with people coming together to share their love (or hate!) of cats.
It inspired me to try something a little whimsical. There are many layers on this one as I experimented with stripes and spots and a whole range of mixed media. JOURNALING AMIDST THE FLOWERS!

If you’re like me and have so many things bouncing around in your head it can help to give those thoughts a home on the page: clears up all that mental clutter!
Whether it’s stream of consciousness writing (writing out whatever random thoughts pop into your head without editing) or, if you’re feeling stuck, you can write down any problems on the left hand page and possible solutions or ways to rephrase those thoughts on the right hand page. This way you still listen and value your negative thoughts but end up with a page of ways to look at things more positively.

I’ve been making a conscious effort to journal every morning. While it felt a little uncomfortable at first Its become such a beautiful habit to check in with myself at the start of the day 😊

I don’t often take time out just to BE…this has been a long time coming!
Interesting how it takes a while to get into being at ease!
No expectations…I’m curious as to what my Art Retreat at #theartsanctuary will bring

This has to be one of my most exciting projects yet!
I developed the Emerge sessions and Exhibition to help local creatives take their art to the next level...and boy did it work!

Guiding them to revel in their unique expression and enhancing their business skills was such a fulfilling experience, for both myself and them.

The Emerge Exhibition will have a variety of works on display including expressive paintings, meaningful oils, stunning watercolours, wearable art, resin work, abstract photography, up-cycled bags, hand-embroidered denim, contemporary art and more.

🎨 Audio is Joan Mitchell on being a painter, can you relate? That compulsion to create, spending copious amounts of money on art supplies, being obsessed with a particular colour, fantasies about your brush moving over the canvas, heading into the studio in search of that high and finding that, day to day things like eating and going to the bathroom, just all get in the way of being in the zone!! 🎨
